Monday, the Pharmacy Owners Division of the Jordan Pharmacists Association (JPA) called for banning applications that sell medication.

During an emergency meeting, the division expressed their concerns regarding the applications that sell medicines to patients and the licensing of these online pharmacies, which they say violates the laws of public health, medicine, pharmacy and the JPA.

They also said that it goes against the licensing system for pharmaceutical institutions and all legislation governing the profession.

The division warned that this could harm patients' health and safety, and could potentially have a negative impact on the pharmaceutical sector as a whole.

The division stressed that it will not 'stand by idly' as these applications 'tamper with the sector.'

It added that it will call for a mass meeting for pharmacy owners operating all over the Kingdom in the coming few days to determine how they will respond, which will include legal and trade union measures.

It also pointed the finger of blame to the relevant local authorities for what is happening and the consequences to come.

The division said that the head of the JPA is responsible for addressing this 'abuse and violations,' which are affecting the pharmaceutical sector.
