Bassem Awadallah informed Saturday the concerned authorities that he had ended his hunger strike, according to the official spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

Awadallah had previously informed the authorities that he began a hunger strike on Monday.

Awadallah was transferred to the hospital Friday to check up on his health condition. The doctors diagnosed him with a middle ear infection.

He left the hospital after receiving the necessary treatment.

The PSD stressed that Awadallah receives the necessary health follow-up in accordance with the law and enjoys his full rights.

The spokesperson denied the allegations made by the inmate's lawyer in the United States, stressing that they are untrue.

The International Committee of the Red Cross also visited the inmate and was briefed on his condition, according to the spokesperson.
