Sunday, the International Astronomy Center predicted that Eid Al-Fitr will start Saturday.
This came a day after the General Iftaa Department announced that it will investigate the new moon of Shawwal, Eid al-Fitr, on Thursday evening, corresponding to April 20, like all other Islamic countries.
The center noted that seeing the crescent Thursday night will not be possible with the naked eye from anywhere in the Arab and Islamic world.
It added that it will probably not be seen with a standard telescope in most Arab and Islamic countries, but could be seen from parts of West Africa including Libya.
He explained that seeing the crescent requires an accurate telescope, a professional observer and suitable weather conditions, which is a 'rare' combination.
