Sunday, a government source said TikTok did not implement any of Jordan's requests for the government to lift the ban and reinstate the mobile application.

According to the source, who asked to remain anonymous, added that the technical and legal conversation is ongoing between Jordan and Tik Tok, but to no avail so far.

The government wants to introduce guidelines for uploading videos on the platform, similar to those implemented in other platforms, the source added.

He noted that Jordan does not have a problem with Tik Tok in particular, but rather with the lack of control over the videos being shared, and their potential negative effect on society.

- Cybercrime Unit -

On Dec. 16, the Cybercrime Unit announced the temporary suspension of Tik Tok in Jordan, after some users posted videos aimed at spreading false news and acts of violence.

The unit said that the ban was put in place due to the platform's failure to deal with harmful content and user misuse, which led to the spread of violent content.

It added that some content was inciting "hate speech, incitement to vandalism, attacks on law enforcement agencies and property, and blocking roads in Jordan."

- TikTok spoke to Roya -

When Roya reached out to TikTok in late January, a TikTok spokesperson said that the platform is committed to improving and updating its safety policies and tools.

“We are also committed to keeping TikTok a safe and positive environment for our global community,” the spokesperson added.

According to the unit, TikTok will remain banned in Jordan unless the platform starts adhering to all regulations and laws, as mentioned in previous statements.
