Tuesday will be "the coldest day since the start of the winter season," according to the Chief Operating Officer at Arabia Weather Osama Al-Tarifi.

He explained that temperature will reach three degrees Celsius during the day and dip below zero at night.

Sunday, Tarifi said that Jordan is expecting a fourth degree air depression, accompanied by heavy rainfall.

He told Roya that it is expected to arrive and start affecting the Kingdom in less than 24 hours, adding that rain will begin falling in the northern regions of the country, then the center and finally the south.

Strong winds are expected to hit the Kingdom Monday at a speed of up to 100 km/h, he noted.

As for temperatures, Tarifi said they will reach six degrees Celsius accompanied by sandstorms, specifically on Desert Highway in the afternoon.

He told Roya that heavy rainfall is expected Tuesday morning.

Cold winds and snow showers will affect mountainous areas (at least 1,200 meters above sea level) Monday and Tuesday night.

Tarifi stressed that the depression comes carrying mostly rain and not snow, even if snow might fall in some areas in Jordan.

He warned of high speed wind, the formation of sand storms on Desert Highway and risk of flooding.
