In a video posted on Telegram, a Russian official Kirill Stremousov said the situation in the southern capital of Kherson is “under control,” AFP reported Monday.

Earlier, Ukraine said its forces recaptured 500 square kilometers (193 square miles) in the Kherson region after claiming huge gains in the east over the weekend.
