Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh said Tuesday that initial examinations revealed that Aqaba grain silos were not affected by the gas leak incident.

In a press conference held near the site where the explosion occurred, Khasawneh said that the situation in Aqaba is now under full control and safe.

He pointed out that life has returned to normal in Aqaba’s port. However, investigations are still ongoing at the site where the accident occurred.

Khasawneh indicated that there is no longer any danger of the spread of chlorine gas and the area has become completely safe.

"Life in Aqaba is completely safe. The relevant authorities have confirmed that there are no gas concentrations in the air.”

He lastly said, “We're standing here at the scene of the accident this morning without any safety precautions or even masks.”
