The first heat wave of this summer is sweeping the European region extending from the Mediterranean to the North Sea.

Friday, the temperature may reach 30 degrees Celsius in the areas between the Mediterranean city of Malaga in southern Spain to the British capital, London.

Some European regions are also witnessing a rise in temperatures that may reach 40 degrees Celsius.

The heat wave will continue in Germany until the end of the week, after which the hot mass will move east to Central and Eastern Europe, according to the European Euronews network.

The Meteorological Service in France added that a hot air mass moving from North Africa was hitting the country, calling it "an unprecedented heat wave in the country."

Temperatures in several French regions reached 40 degrees Celsius for the first time this year on Thursday, and are expected to reach their peak on Saturday, rising to 41 or 42 degrees.
