In April, the House of Representatives approved a number of amendments to the draft law amending the Penal Code.

One of the amendments that the MPs approved, was imprisoning those who attempt to commit suicide in a public place for a period not exceeding six months and a fine of no more than JD 100, or one of these two penalties. The penalty will be doubled if it was a ‘mass suicide.’

Mass suicide occurs when a group of people simultaneously kill themselves.
