The head of the Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Omar Awwad, demanded that the price list of restaurants be amended and raised, due to the high prices of basic foodstuffs.

Awwad said in an interview with Roya, that “the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply seeks to please the traders, by fixing the price ceiling for vegetable oils at the highest price."

He described the rise in food prices as “horrible,” as it negatively affected the restaurant sector.

Restaurants which are exempt from sales tax are affected by the fact that the prices are unchanged, however, restaurants that are subject to sales tax, can sell their products “at the price they deem appropriate."
