The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that on Jan. 30, a criminal investigation report was received about a driver working on a car riding application whose car was burnt by the customer that had lured him into an empty area under the pretext of needing a ride to that area.

After arriving at the empty area, the driver was threatened with a sharp object and was tied up.

The suspect then removed the victim from the vehicle and burned it with a Molotov cocktail.

Additionally, he stole JD 170 from the victim, according to the prosecution and the investigations were immediately launched.

According to the spokesperson, it was revealed that the suspect is a man of an Arab nationality who had only arrived in Jordan a few days ago.

After his arrest, he admitted to coming to the country especially to commit the crime due to previous disputes although he and the victim had never met before.

He admitted to his crime but denied committing theft.

Earlier, people on social media circulated a video showing a vehicle burning in the capital, Amman, after someone deliberately threw a Molotov cocktail at it.
