The cancellation rate of reservations in the last week of the current year 2021 reached more than 80 percent, according to the head of the Jordan Hotel Association, Abdul Hakim Al Hindi.

Speaking to Roya, Al Hindi added that the tourism situation in Jordan is in a bad state, as a result of the coronavirus crisis and a lack of consultation with the tourism sector by the Ministry of Health.

Al-Hindi indicated that the tourism output during 2021 amounted to about 1.5 billion dinars only.

According to the latest data issued by the Central Bank, the Kingdom's tourism income increased during the past ten months by 61.2 percent, to reach $2.1 billion, compared to a decrease of 73 percent during the corresponding period of 2020.

Al-Hindi said that the festive season at the end of this year is no longer feasible for the tourism sector.
