Tuesday, the former Minister of Health, Saad Kharabsheh, said that all indicators regarding the epidemiological situation in Jordan since the beginning of the third wave, are on the rise, especially as the positivity rate is now over 10 percent.

He added, in an interview with Roya’s Nabd Albalad, that Jordan, according to the World Health Organization for the Middle East, is ranked in the first place with its rate of COVID deaths per 100,000 citizens, and in terms of infections also per 100,000 in terms of population.

According to a global statistic about the virus, the rate of those vaccinated with both doses is 36 percent in Jordan, and the country is ranked number eight, regionally, in terms of vaccination.

Kharabsheh expressed his great concern about the increasing number of deaths, with numbers exceeding 20 per day, pointing out that it is not a justification that those dying are unvaccinated.

He stressed the need to conduct an analytical study to reveal the reason behind the recently high death toll from coronavirus.

In regards to the vaccination of school students, Kharabsheh noted that foreign countries have started vaccinating children over the age of 5. The former Minister of Health called for a mandate to vaccinate school students over 12 years old.
