Wednesday, The French newspaper, Le Parisien, reported that the country's security authorities successfully thwarted a coup attempt against the Élysée led by a former deputy of the Democratic Movement.

A conspiracy theorist, Rémy Daillet-Wiedemann, was charged with planning the coup while he was staying in Malaysia before he was deported back to France.

He is also charged with "helping to organise attacks against vaccination centres, destroying 5G antennas, and spreading debunked claims that the ‘Covid virus’ was a result of the rollout of 5," reported connexionfrance newspaper.

The newspaper also said that the suspect has been in custody since Oct. 22 on the alleged ‘association with terrorists.’

He had a substantial online following and is famous for his “conspiracist, anti-vaccination, anti-abortion, anti-establishment videos,” said connexionfrance.

According to reports, sources close to the investigation stated that the plot began when France was in a health crisis, about a year ago, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Investigations revealed "a worrying coup against the Élysée Palace, with the help of many Daillet-Wiedemann supporters and a large paramilitary organization,” according to Sky News.

FranceInfo revealed that the “secret” scheme, dubbed “Operation Azure,” was “highly organized.”

The source noted that the secret organization includes “civilian and military members with real weapons and a recruitment plan... The military team was headed by two soldiers from the French army.”

“Operation Azure was worrying, although no specific date was set for the day of the coup,” the source added.
