Since early Monday, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have been searching for six Palestinians who managed to escape from Gilboa prison which is considered one of Israeli Occupation’s most secure facilities.

According to local media reports, the six Palestinians shared one prison cell and escaped through a tunnel that they dug for years in the bathroom. Some say that they received help from outside.

Who are the six Palestinians?

1) Zakariye Zubeidi, 46:

- Born in Jenin Camp

- A former Fatah party leader in the northern West Bank city of Jenin

- Elected to the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah movement in 2006

- Arrested in Ramallah in the West Bank Feb. 27, 2019

- No final verdict has been issued against him yet

- The accusation: belonging to al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades

2) Monadel Yacoub Nafe’at, 26:

- Born in Ya'bad, Jenin

- Arrested in 2006 and released in 2015

- Arrested again in 2016 and then in 2020

- The accusation: belonging to Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, in addition to participating in resistance operations against the IOF

- No final verdict has been issued against him yet

3) Yaqoub Mahmoud Qadri, 49:

- Born in the village of Bir al-Basha, Jenin

- The Israeli Occupation went after him in 2000

- He participated in a battle to defend Jenin Refugee Camp in 2002

- Arrested Oct. 18, 2003

- In 2004, he was sentenced to two life imprisonments in addition to 35 years

- In 2014, he and a group of prisoners tried to escape from Shatta prison through a tunnel but the attempt was unsuccessful

4) Ayham Nayef Kamamji, 35:

- Born in the village of Kafr Dan, Jenin

- The Israeli Occupation went after him in May 2003

- Arrested by the IOF July 4, 2006

- Sentenced to life imprisonment twice

5) Mahmoud Abdullah Ardah, 46:

- Born in the town of Arraba, Jenin

- Arrested for the first time in 1992 and released in 1996

- Arrested again Sept. 21, 1996

- Sentenced to life imprisonment in addition to 15 years

- The accusation: being a member in the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement and participating in resistance operations

6) Muhammad Qasem Ahmad Ardah, 39:

- Born in Arraba, Jenin

- Arrested in an Israeli Occupation ambush Jan. 7, 2002, then released in mid-March 2002

- May 16, 2002, he was arrested in Ramallah

- Sentenced to three life imprisonments in addition to 20 years
