Aug. 29, a young person died after a hotel partially collapsed in Puerto Vallarta due to floods brought by Hurricane Nora. Another was reported missing after the flood swept away their vehicle.

At least three people were injured in floods and landslides and around 500 houses were damaged, said Enrique Alfaro, Governor of Jalisco state.

Coastal areas were flooded due to heavy rainfall and storm surge.

A video from AFP shows local residents wading down flooded streets while the Mexican military supports evacuation efforts after heavy rains in the city of Tlaquepaque, Jalisco state, Mexico.

Others who were caught in flood waters were rescued and evacuated by the military.

One of the evacuated residents told AFP “It's a total loss, about a metre and a half of water came up, here inside now it has gone down a little bit, but everything, the refrigerators, you can see how they have been turned upside down, everything. It happened really fast.”

Another individual said, “Here it (the water) came up to about 80 centimeters, here but there on that side it is about two metres. Some got into our house but not a lot because we managed to put some sand bags out, but things were really bad.”

Hurricane Nora headed up the pacific Coast of Mexico for a few days, and is expected to make another landfall in the state of Sonora as a Tropical Storm, according to floodlist.
