Thursday, the Israeli Occupation authorities decided to release the 26-year-old pregnant woman, Anhar al-Deek, with a 40,000 shekel (USD 12,500) bail and to place her under house arrest in her family’s house in the town of Kafr Nima.

Deek is nine months pregnant.

The lawyer of the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and ex-Detainees’ Affairs, Akram Samara, stated that the Ofer Military Court held Wednesday a session to consider the release request submitted by the commission’s lawyer to release Deek from the Damon prison. The decision to release her was made Thursday.

Deek was three months pregnant when she was arrested by the Israeli Occupation in March, 2021.

A few days ago, Deek wrote a painful letter in which she expressed her pain and fear of giving birth inside the Israeli Occupation prison.

In her letter, she started by saying how much she misses her family, and how her heart aches for their parting.

She also wrote about the severe pain she is suffering from, as her pelvis and feet hurt from sleeping on the prison bed.

She continued to wonder about the difficulties she will be going through after giving birth and how she is going to take her first steps towards healing.

Deek also asked how is she going to protect her newborn from the frightening sounds of torture and inhumane scenes of injustice the baby will open his eyes to.
