PM, Qatar Deputy Prime Minister discuss ties

Monday, Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh received Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss cementing Jordanian-Qatari ties.

The Qatari official stressed the deep and brotherly relations between the two countries and a common interest to further enhance cooperation in all fields.

The two sides agreed to intensify contacts and meetings between ministers and officials from the two countries to explore opportunities and areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Nasser Shraideh, Minister of State for Government Follow-up and Coordination, Nawaf Al-Tal, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh and Jordanian Ambassador to Qatar Zaid Al-Lawzi, Khasawneh pointed to a joint political will to enhance bilateral cooperation "for the benefit of the two brotherly countries and their people."

Khasawneh spoke about his government's efforts and measures to develop the investment environment in the Kingdom and provide the necessary incentives to encourage local, Arab and foreign capital, adding that the government welcomes more Qatari investments in the vital and mega projects that Jordan will launch in many fields.

The Prime Minister wished Qatar success in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals, and said Jordan "will offer any help needed for the success of this major international event."

The Qatari Deputy Prime Minister conveyed to Khasawneh the greetings of Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani and reaffirmed Doha's keen interest in bolstering cooperation with the Kingdom.

Qatari ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani and Chief of Asia-Pacific and Africa Investments at Qatar Investment Authority, Sheikh Faisal Bin Thani Al Thani attended the meeting.
