King directs aid to Lebanon, offers to treat wounded in Jordan

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said Sunday that Jordan is coordinating with Lebanese authorities under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II to provide any required assistance, including treating the wounded in Jordan.

He added in a tweet on Twitter: "My deepest condolences and sympathy to our brothers in Lebanon for the victims of the accident that exploded the fuel tank in Akkar."

Safadi continued, "We stand with our brothers with all our capabilities, and under the direction of His Majesty the King, we coordinate with the brothers to provide any needed assistance, including treating the wounded in Jordan. May God have mercy on the victims and grant the wounded a speedy recovery."

Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants expressed its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of the Republic of Lebanon, over the victims of the explosion of a fuel tank at dawn on Sunday in the town of Talil in Akkar, northern Lebanon, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens.

The Ministry affirmed the Kingdom's standing and solidarity with the government and people of the Republic of Lebanon in this painful situation, and its condolences to the families of the victims, and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Ministry of Health in the Lebanese caretaker government said that at least 28 people died in a fuel tank explosion in the north of the country in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Military and security sources said that the Lebanese army had confiscated a fuel tank hidden by people working in the black market and was distributing fuel to the residents when the explosion occurred.

Hassan issued a call to evacuate the wounded from the explosion of the town of Al-Talil in Akkar outside Lebanon.

Roya's correspondent in Lebanon said that the circumstances of the explosion are still unclear.
