Saturday, an official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army (JAF) stated that the Eastern Military Region thwarted an attempt by a group of people to infiltrate and smuggle quantities of narcotics from Syrian territory into Jordanian territory.

The source said that the rules of engagement were applied, which led to the killing of one of the smugglers and the injury of a number of others, while the rest fled into the Syrian territory.

After searching the area, large quantities of narcotics, ammunition stores and a communication device were found.

The source said that the JAF will deal firmly with any infiltration or smuggling attempt in order to protect the citizens and the security of the Kingdom's borders.
