The National Crisis Emergency and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) announced Tuesday that COVID-19 booster shots are available for all United Arab Emirates residents six months after receiving their second dose of the vaccine and after three months for individuals who are classed as high-risk.

The NCEMA said that receiving a booster shot after two doses of a vaccine increases immunity against the coronavirus.

Four coronavirus vaccines are available in the UAE, including the Sinophram, Pfizer, Russia’s Sputnik V, and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the UAE has confirmed 685,462 cases and 1,960 deaths.
