Thursday, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati discussed with Iraqi officials in Baghdad the outcomes of the tripartite summit between Jordan, Iraq and Egypt in the field of cooperation in the energy file.

Zawati said that the visit comes to follow up and discuss the oil and energy file with Iraq after holding the tripartite summit, as well as discussing a number of topics of common interest, including the Basra-Aqaba pipeline project, which is one of the important strategic projects, which brings economic benefit to both friendly peoples.

Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, for his part, said that the meeting included discussion, recommendations and outcomes of the tripartite summit between Jordan, Iraq and Egypt in the field of cooperation in the energy file, as well as discussing strengthening bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of oil in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and peoples. The Iraqi minister added that the Basra-Aqaba pipeline project to be established between Jordan and Iraq to export crude oil is of interest to the ministry, and is currently under discussion by the technical and commercial committees, and "we aim to achieve economic and commercial feasibility in a way that supports sustainable development plans, and that it adds value economically for both countries.

Ismail stressed his country's keenness to consolidate bilateral relations with Jordan and expand horizons of bilateral cooperation, in a manner that serves common interests.

On the sale of crude oil to the Kingdom, Ismail indicated that the Council of Ministers approved the renewal of the annual contract with a quantity of (10 thousand barrels).
