The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), in cooperation with the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) and the Petra Health Directorate, intensified efforts in rolling out coronavirus vaccinations to families and workers in the tourism sector Sunday.

The vaccination campaigns included an increase in the number of vaccination centers and the establishment of a field campaign for vaccination in areas where there are no centers such as Al-Rajif and Al-Bayda in the pink city.

The Vice President of Petra, Khalil Abu Hammour, said that these campaigns come to accelerate the announcement of the city as a 'green zone' free of the coronavirus crisis, and in order to fully open the various economic sectors, the most important of which is tourism.

Abu Hammour called on the people to demand vaccinations, given the importance of restoring tourism, especially foreign tourism, which has declined in an unprecedented manner due to the repercussions of the pandemic.

Petra's Health Director, Essam Al-Saudi, said that the campaigns will continue in partnership with the PDTRA and NCSCM, pointing to the role of the field campaigns in increasing the number of vaccine recipients.

The five approved vaccination centers in Petra allow anyone registered on the platform to go to receive the vaccine directly, without waiting for an appointment.

The pink city hopes that these measures will contribute to the restoration of tourism and the return of work within various tourist facilities, especially since the tourism sector is the main pillar of the local economy in Petra.
