A coronavirus vaccination center opened Wednesday in Mu'tah University, in cooperation with the Ministries of Higher Education and Health and the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), with the aim of vaccinating members of the teaching and administrative staff, clinical students of the medical college, and nursing students.

The president of the university, Arafat Awajan, said the opening of the center - where vaccines have already begun to be administered -  comes within the framework of the efforts made by all educational institutions and the Ministry of Higher Education to confront the pandemic, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, to provide an opportunity to vaccinate the largest segment of workers in the higher education sector, while consolidating the university's societal role.

Awajan pointed out medical and nursing students from the university are administering shots at this center, noting that they have been trained, in hopes to speed up the process of immunization.

He said this all comes within efforts to reach a "safe health situation" and the return to a normal life.

Wednesday, Jordan recorded 17 COVID-19 related deaths and 604 new cases.
