The representative of the clothing and shoes sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Ishaq Al-Qawasmeh told Roya’s Donya Ya Donya that the decision to extend the current COVID-19 measures to mid-May will destroy any life left in the sector.

Qawasmeh added that most of these sectors relied a lot on the Ramadan and Eid season to compensate them for the losses they have incurred since the start of the coronavirus crisis.

He called on the government to reconsider this decision and to allow stores to open their doors after Iftar starting from the 10th day of Ramadan.

He pointed out that the clothing and shoe sectors have already imported items and stored them for the Ramadan and Eid season.

Qawasmeh lastly added that the prices of clothes, shoes and accessories decreased by around 15 percent, especially after the government imposed the new COVID-19 restrictions.
