The Ministry of Social Development Saturday completed the vaccination of elderly people in its care homes with the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, in cooperation with the national vaccination campaign.

The Director of the Family and Protection Directorate in the Ministry, Mahmoud Jabour, said that the number of elderly people in the care homes supervised by the ministry is 367 across nine private and voluntary care homes.

Jabour indicated that all those in these care homes received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, including 164 who received both doses.

Jabour stated that work is underway to ensure that the rest of the elderly receive the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine according to specific dates, explaining that the vaccination team monitors the elderly after vaccinating them for a certain period after studying their pathology, in addition to the in-house medical and nursing staff who monitor their health.

He stressed that the ministry constantly inspects all shelters in the private and voluntary sectors to follow up on the conditions of the beneficiaries, and to ensure the implementation of the ministry's precautionary plan to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
