Saturday, official sources told Roya about the several scenarios that the government may carry out in the near future in light of the increasing daily infections of COVID-19.

The source said that the most likely of these scenarios is the reimposition of the total lockdown on Fridays, especially after higher rates of non-compliance towards preventive health measures have been witnessed on Fridays.

The same sources added that the second scenario may be the imposition of a lockdown on the governorates that recorded a significant increase of COVID-19 cases during the last period, which includes the capital of Amman.

The third scenario is to increase curfew hours for Fridays to prevent citizens from taking group trips around the Kingdom, which was especially prevalent Friday, Feb. 6.

The source indicated that a meeting between the government's Coronavirus Crisis Management Cell and Epidemics Committee is set to take place in the near future, with decisions expected to be announced Saturday or Sunday at the latest.

Previously, the Assistant Secretary-General for Primary Health Care Affairs at the Ministry of Health Ghazi Sharkas, during statements to Roya, attributed the reason for the increase in the number of cases in Amman to the easing of health measures.

Between Feb. 5 and Feb. 12, the Ministry of Health announced that Jordan recorded 79 COVID-19 deaths and 11,795 cases, while the number of active cases is currently 14,419.
