Most Palestinian citizens complied with the Palestinian government’s health and safety measures on the second day of total lockdown across the West Bank Saturday, according to a Roya report.

Bakeries and pharmacies were excluded from this lockdown but most bakeries reported receiving a very limited number of customers. Bakery owners said demand is low because there is no transportation and they only sell to customers living in the same street.

One bakery owner said, "We are fearful of the current situation and the possibility of further closures to be implemented. We are currently going through [a lot] and we are not supported by any entity, not only as bakeries but as merchants."

The weekly lockdown was imposed after an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases along with an overnight curfew during the week. The lockdown starts Thursday night and ends Sunday morning.

One employee said, "As a worker... if I work, I eat. If I don’t, I don’t eat."
