Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said Monday that settlements are the enemy of peace, and that the Israeli Occupier government should halt all colonial plans and stop illegally seizing Palestinian land and building thousands of settlement units.

Shtayyeh added that the current number of settlers in Palestinian territories, including Occupied Jerusalem, has reached more than 750,000, making up 25 percent of the total population of the West Bank.

He stressed that it is time for the occupiers to choose between the “two-state solution or 'demographic assimilation,' noting that for the first time since 1948, the number of Palestinians in the history of Palestine outnumbers the occupiers by more than 250,000 people.

On the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence Nov. 15, the PM called on all countries of the world to take a step towards breaking the status quo, recognizing the State of Palestine, curbing settlement plans, annexation, demolishing homes, occupying Jerusalem, and isolating Gaza.

He added, "the world is required to stand with the freedom of our people, to end the occupation, and for the occupation to pay the price for its continuous aggression against [the] Palestinian people."
