The number of school students who are infected with coronavirus out of the total number of cases in the Kingdom reached 2.12%.

Meanwhile, the percentage of students infected with the virus out of the total number of the school students in Jordan reached 0.0039%.

In addition, 78 school students, 50 teachers and eight school staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, the media spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Abdul Ghafour al-Quraan, told Roya on Wednesday.

A total of 91 schools have been shut down after positive cases were recorded among students and staff members, al-Quraan added.

However, the Minister of Education, Tayseer Al-Nuaimi, announced on Monday that all schools will switch to distant learning and suspend students' attendence for two weeks starting Thursday.

Jordan has recorded 149 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, 142 of which are local cases, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis to 3,677.
