The spokesperson for the National Committee for Epidemics, Nazir Obaidat, disapproved of what was published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), warning American citizens not to travel to Jordan due to the high-risk COVID-19 situation in the country.

The CDC classified Jordan under the “Warning – Level 3” category, claiming the health situation in the Kingdom is unsafe.

“CDC recommends travelers avoid all nonessential international travel to Jordan. Travelers at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 should consider postponing all travel, including essential travel, to Jordan,” the website said.

The website also said “If you get sick in Jordan and need medical care, resources may be limited.”

Obaidat expressed his shock regarding the “false information” provided about Jordan on their official website.

“The health situation in Jordan is not as described by the report, as being at a dangerous stage,” he said.

Local authorities have handles the coronavirus crisis with the “utmost transparency” and Jordan’s numbers prove that the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom is under control, he added.
