16 new COVID-19 cases in Jordan,  14 local cases

Sixteen new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Jordan on Thursday, including 14 local cases, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis to 1,498.

The cases involve:

  • Two Jordanian truck drivers who entered from Saudi Arabia via Al-Omari border crossing.
  • 10 cases in Amman — nine of which came into contact with other positive cases and one is being investigated to find the source.
  • Two cases in Zarqa — both of which came into contact with other positive cases.
  • One case in Ajloun — they came into contact with another positive case.
  • One case in Irbid — investigations are ongoing to determine the source of infection.

One of the people who tested positive for coronavirus came into contact with 170 people and visited 35  different places all over the Kingdom.

Two recovery cases were confirmed and 7,758 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Thursday.

Minister of Health, Saad Jaber, said life will not go back to normal before a vaccine is created.
