The Food and Drug Administration and the Balqa Health Directorate are the entities to blame for the Ain al-Basha food poisoning incident, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohieldin Touq, said during a government press conference on Wednesday.

There is an extreme lack of inspectors at the Food and Drug administration, with only 82 employees conducting inspections, said Touq.

He said the Food and Drug Administration only has a physical presence in four of the Kingdom's governorates which are; Zarqa, Karak, Irbid, and Amman.

Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, had previously established a team headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to find out the causes of the food poisoning incident, and to know where to place responsibility.
