The government will spend half a billion Jordanian dinars in the next 18 months through the National Aid Fund (NAF) to fight poverty, NAF Director-General, Omar Mashaqbeh, told Roya.

Of that fund, JD 120 million will be allocated to bread subsidies - citizens will receive JD 27 per person, said Mashaqbeh.

Up to one million Jordanian families will benefit from the support, he said, adding that this is the third year a bread subsidy has been implemented.

Families who have not been able to submit applications for bread subsidies can reapply on August 6.
