Tafilah Health Directorate has denied today inaccurate reports circulating on social media platforms about a citizen, who was among those randomly tested by the epidemiological investigation teams, having contracted coronavirus.

"About 245 random samples were collected from different areas of the southern governorate and all results were negative, including a case that underwent a preliminary diagnostic examination "Rapid Test", which is used in epidemiological surveys," Tafilah’s Health Director, Hamad Rbaihat, said, adding that a PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test was also conducted on the citizen and the result came back negative.

The southern governorate of Tafilah is free of the COVID-19 pandemic, he stressed.

The epidemiological team is expected to collect 350 samples today across the various population communities and public facilities in the city, bringing the total number of samples taken in the governorate to 600, the official added.

Rbaihat also called on the public to take the information from its main sources, represented by the Health Ministry and the relevant authorities.
