Five COVID-19 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), spokesman for the National Committee for Epidemics Nathir Obaidat stated today.
In a phone call with Roya, Obaidat indicated that one of the five cases is critical and the patient in on the artificial respiration.
He added that the epidemiological investigation teams are still conducting COVID-19 tests to residents of Al-Marqab area in Marka, Amman.
He pointed out that tests have been sent to a world laboratory to ascertain whether there was a difference in the genetic material of the virus in Jordan.
"If the epidemiological situation in Jordan improves, we support allowing some sectors to gradually resume their work under conditions," Obaidat said, noting that this would require more commitment by citizens.
Obaidat said that schools and universities are not a priority and if they were allowed to reopen, this would have a negative impact.
"The general situation in Jordan is good," he stated, explaining that the peak may be in the number of cases recorded last week.
