For the seventh day in a row, no coronavirus cases were confirmed in the Irbid governorate, the official overseeing the virus in the northern governorates and member of the National Committee for Epidemics, Wael Hayajneh said today.

In a phone call with Roya, Hayajneh stated that the epidemiological investigation teams are still conducting COVID-19 tests to citizens in the governorate.

There are 44 patients infected with the virus receiving treatment at King Abdullah University Hospital and their health condition is stable.

"This afternoon, test results for the infected will be shown and those who test negative for the virus will be discharged from the hospital.

Nearly 5,000 examinations have been conducted in the governorate so far, where the committee conducts 200 to 300 tests daily.

"The virus has, over time, turned into a disease. It has become under control," Hayajneh said.

On the benefits of the comprehensive curfew, he said that "it leads to a compulsive social distancing between citizens, as it is important to slow the transmission of the virus and allows investigation teams to do their work easily."

Hayajneh revealed that during the current phase, the curfew in Irbid will not be lifted, stressing that the situation is under control.
