Media spokesman for the National Committee for Epidemics Nathir Obaidat has confirmed today that a legal prosecution will be held against every person who publishes fake news and rumors about coronavirus deaths and infections in Jordan.

In a statement to Roya, Obaidat added that the only one authorized to talk about the number of deaths and infected cases is the Minister of Health Dr. Saad Jaber, during a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management.

He stressed the need to adhere to the instructions and to take information and news from the official sources, especially news that causes panic among citizens.

Earlier in the day, some local news websites reported news about a seventh death at Prince Hamzah Hospital. However, Head of Prince Hamzah Hospital Abdulrazzaq Khashman denied such news, confirming that the Health Minister is the only one authorized to announce details about the coronavirus cases in Jordan.
