Spokesman for the National Committee for Epidemics Nathir Obaidat has revealed today that six COVID-19 patients are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), confirming that none of them is on the artificial respiration.

Obaidat added that the rest of the infected are in good health.

He told Roya that 10% of the patients have pneumonia and their condition is stable, as some of them started to recover.

He stressed that the number of recovered cases is exceeding the number of new cases confirmed each day.

With regard to the health status of the doctor and nurses who were declared infected yesterday at Amman Surgical Hospital, Obaidar revealed that "It's expected that there will be cases among the medical personnel and this happened in a number of hospitals. Health personnel should be protected and therefore we decided, as a precautionary measure, to test all those who had contact with the infected and sterilized the hospital.

He pointed out that hundreds of the medical staff in the hospital were tested, where the results are mostly negative and "we are waiting for the rest of the results."

Regarding the areas which were classified as coronavirus hotspots in Amman, Obaidat revealed that the hotspots are areas in which more than one person was infected with the virus and all people who had contact with those infected in all buildings and regions of the Kingdom, such as Al-Jubeiha, Marka and Ramtha were tested, indicating that the situation is under control.

He pointed out that the results of the samples of people who had contact with the deceased in Salt city are all negative, noting that the tests will be reconducted after 14 days.
