Police impounded a total of 467 vehicles and arrested 831 persons in the past 24 hours, for violating the curfew imposed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, spokesman for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said today.

"Seized vehicles will be transferred to impound lots designated for this purpose in Muwaqqar and Swaqa, while the fines will be levied upon the owners when they receive their vehicles after 30 days," the spokesman said.

"All security personnel are working around the clock to control violations against the orders issued under the Defence Law," he added, stressing the police will not tolerate any breach of the current rules.
