The government has decided today to close the Al-Arda wholesale fruit and vegetable market, the most important shipping point market in the Jordan Valley, until further notice as a precaution to curb the spread of coronavirus.

"The reason for the suspension was after one of those who had direct contact with a coronavirus patient came to the market to purchase agricultural products, during which he had close contact with a number of sellers," the Al-Ma'adi district mayor, where the market is located, said.

He added that medical measures were taken as epidemiological inspection teams examined samples from those who directly dealt with the patient, while the market will be sterilized every day during the closing period.
