Director-General of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) Hayel Obaidat said that the administration is inspecting the sales of face masks to ensure they're not monopolized or overpriced.

Obaidat stated that 14 JFDA inspectors carried out field visits on Tuesday in Amman, Zarqa and Irbid, and had shut down several pharmacies that were in violation of its regulations.

He said some violators were referred to the public prosecutor and that legal action will be taken against them.

The team of inspectors, he said, had also found some cases of monopoly and overpricing of masks, which were confiscated.

Obaidat warned that the JFDA will not tolerate any breaches of mask regulations.
