Four earthquakes shook Dead Sea today

Jordan Seismological Observatory (JSO) recorded four earthquakes in the Dead Sea area today.

The quakes were felt by residents of the Jordan Valley and Karak governorate.

Director of the JSO, Mahmoud Qaryouti, said in a press statement that the first quake occurred at 10:02 am, measuring 2.6. However, the second earthquake took place at 10:07 and was of 3.3 magnitude.

Qaryouti added that the third quake occurred at 1:39 pm, measuring 3.8, while the fourth took place at 1:49 pm and was of a magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale.

The earthquakes occurred at depths ranging from 12 km to 7 km, Qaryouti mentioned.
