Drilling operations at the well No. 49 in the Risha Gas Plant, east of the Kingdom has completed, the National Petroleum Company (NPC) announced on Today.

Chairman of NPC's Board of Directors, Laith Al Qasem, said that work is underway to assess the well and to prepare the final report.

The Risha Gaz Plant previously produced 30 million cubic feet per day, but fell to 9 million, he said, noting that the discovered gas well No. 48 raised the production of the Plant to 16 million, which constitutes 5% of the Kingdom's daily consumption of 330 million cubic feet of gas.

Al Qasem said the company started drilling well No. 49 based on its technical studies to understand (geological and latent model) of the Risha Plant, pointing out that the company's plan for 2019 included the drilling of three wells as part of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' efforts to discover more gas in the Risha Plant to increase domestic sources' contribution to the total energy mix.
