General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI), Mustafa Barghouti, said in a statement that Israeli occupation has flooded the area of Khan al-Ahmar village with waste water, on Thursday, October 4, 2018.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli settlers of Kfar Adumim pumped wastewater in Khan Al-Ahmar, in order to pressure residents of Khan Al-Ahmar to leave their houses and evacuate the village. In May 2018, the Supreme Court in Israel approved the demolition of Khan Al-Ahmar, as it is considered part of Area C and falls under the occupied West Bank. Residents of the village were given a deadline to evacuate their homes before demolition would take place. However, up until now, Israel authorities were not able to execute the demolition.
Barghouti voiced his concern about the threat of the wastewater –which currently entraps the houses of the village– and its direct affect on the wellbeing and health of Khan Al-Ahmar's residents.
