The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) awarded Jordan the ICAO President’s Certificate of Excellence in Air Safety for 2017 on Sunday, according to Petra news agency citing the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Chief, Captain Haitham Mesto.

Mesto said the ICAO selection of Jordan for the certificate is a recognition of Jordan’s improvement in air safety during 2017 and its success in implementing the recommendations of the ICAO.

The certificate is awarded to countries with significant progress in air safety control and is based on several standards including transparency, impartiality and results of the ICAO program for civil aviation oversight safety, Mesto elaborated.

According to Petra, the president of the ICAO has invited Mesto to receive the accolade in a ceremony to be held in ICAO’s headquarters in Montreal, Canada.
