Government pursues Al Kurdi with Interpol for embezzling $40 million
The Cabinet has issued an order today to internationally pursue Walid Al Kurdi, for $40 million.
The Minister of Justice, Awad Abu Jarad, was tasked with following up on the case with the Interpol by issuing an Interpol red notice for Al Kurdi in order to extradite him from London.
Al Kurdi is the former CEO of the Jordan Phosphate Mines, and is married to Princess Basma.
Kurdi submitted his resignation as CEO of the Jordan Phosphate Mines and left to London, and has since been charged with abuse of office and 22-and-a-half years of hard labor and 15-years of hard labor.
Abu Jarad was also asked to coordinate with the British Minister of Interior in order to make Al Kurdi’s capture easier.
In 2014, Al Kurdi’s lawyer applied for a settlement based on the provisions of the economic crimes law, and talks with the government lasted two years, bearing no results, which urged the government to follow other legal procedures to guarantee the rule of law.
