The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement on Friday condemning the Israeli Occupation forces' (IOF) targeting of Al Jazeera's photographer Samer Abu Dakka, resulting in his death, and the injury of their correspondent Wael al-Dahdouh.

The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Sufyan al-Qudah, expressed Jordan's strong condemnation of the ongoing IOF airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, particularly those targeting journalists.

Qudah emphasized that targeting journalists is an attack on the truth, attempting to obscure the grim reality left by the continuous IOF aggression on the Strip.

The spokesperson renewed the ministry's call on the international community to mobilize efforts to halt the repeated and ongoing violations of international law and humanitarian law by the Israeli Occupation, providing international protection for the Palestinian people, as well as medical and journalistic personnel.

Notably, the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate condemned the IOF's targeting of the Al Jazeera crew, who were courageously and responsibly performing their duties.

In a press statement, the syndicate emphasized that the continuous and systematic crimes of the Israeli Occupation, targeting journalists, children and women, should not go unpunished.

It called for holding the Israeli Occupation accountable and pledged to pursue legal action internationally in collaboration with human rights advocates.

Rakan Al-Saai'dah, the head of the Journalists Syndicate, stated that international laws, treaties and humanitarian standards all prohibit the targeting of journalists while carrying out their duties.

However, the Israeli Occupation is a 'criminal and deviant occupation lacking the slightest humanity,' unwilling to allow anyone to convey to the world the heinous crimes it commits against women, children and civilians in Gaza.

Its hands are stained with the blood of innocents in Palestine and Gaza, he said.
