A worsening measles outbreak in Yemen's Taiz has killed 26 people and infected 2,738 others since the beginning of the year through the end of October, a local health official has warned.
Taysir Al-Samie, the health media official in Taiz, said the war and blockade imposed on the city have deprived around 347,000 children of measles and rubella vaccinations.
Al-Samie warned that infections and deaths among children could rise further as immunization programs remain disrupted.
He stressed that the continued interruption of vaccination services is leaving thousands of children vulnerable to preventable diseases, raising concerns over the spread of the outbreak.
