Pakistan’s embassy in Tehran on Sunday rejected circulating reports that its ambassador had been attacked in the Iranian capital, describing the claims as baseless and factually incorrect.

In a statement posted on X, the Embassy of Pakistan in Iran said it had taken note of “certain reports circulating in social media and other forums” concerning Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui.

“The embassy categorically clarifies that these reports are baseless and factually incorrect,” the mission stated.

An Iranian state media report carried a similar clarification, noting that the reports had “no truth or credibility whatsoever.”

The rumours spread rapidly after social media accounts shared a video showing a commotion involving a crowd in an unidentified building, with people appearing to engage in physical altercations.

Some posts alleged that Siddiqui had been invited to an unspecified event in Tehran, was assaulted by several individuals, and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The embassy did not provide further details on the origin of the claims but moved quickly to counter them.

Ambassador Siddiqui was appointed as Pakistan’s envoy to Iran in February 2026 after previously serving as ambassador to Bangladesh.

He has not issued a personal statement on the matter via his social media account.

The denial comes against the backdrop of ongoing regional tensions in which Pakistan has played a mediating role between Iran and the United States.
